Little League Baseball & Softball 2016

Little League Baseball  & Softball 2016

Dear Parents,

We would like to invite you to the first ball meeting of the year on Saturday, February 13, 2016.  The ball meeting will start at 9:00 am.

Sign up fees for all little league and baseball teams are $25 plus shirt if needed. All softbal teams will sign-up with the Tri-C Ball Association. Softball forms can be picked-up in the office and the fees are $20 per child plus shirt costs.  Softball forms are due by March 1, 2016.

The date for rosters to be turned in was pushed up by Little League two years ago.  We are required to have our completed rosters in by the third week of March this year so we can get the info organized and to the District by April 1st.  We hope to field the same teams as last year though we will likely step back to 1 tee ball team.  Little League International is pushing for a younger league and come 2018, youth turning 13 after May 1 will NOT be able to participate.  We will need coaches from the parents of each age group, if you haven’t helped in the past, please consider helping this year.

We will of course need the officers elected and figure out who will help with the shack, money, etc.  There will be new officers elected this year as I vacate the position of President and Tabitha vacates treasurer.  The newly elected officials will be responsible for uniforms, shack schedule, field work day etc.  I will support in any way needed.  Last year we fielded the following teams:

2 tee ball teams

7 year old coach pitch

8 year old machine pitch

“B” team

“A” team (hit and miss due to rain and low numbers)

The largest challenge, as usual, is getting all of the work done that is required in preparing/keeping the field, running the shack and organizing umpires etc. Please consider helping where you can, it is typically a fun time with good people.  Barnard will NOT be hosting a baseball tournament this year (we did Machine Pitch last year), which is a good money maker.  Any ideas for a fund raiser would be welcome also.

Concerning softball, it is expected there will be discussion about possibly playing with the Jefferson teams if numbers are not sufficient to support teams locally.  This will need coordinated with Jefferson as well if we desire to go that route as it would be quite a change.

PS - For parents who cannot make this meeting, please contact me at the above number (or email to chrisned90@hotmail.com) and we can get the paperwork to you over the net, through school or an arranged meeting.  The sooner we can get the paperwork in, the better we know what our team fees will be.  We have in the past accepted late comers, but that may not be allowed this year.

The information for the forms is basic, with the exception of the Insurance information, so don't forget an insurance card or old bill, etc.
