GSNCCF is a not-for-profit organization of your friends and neighbors dedicated to improving the quality of life in southern Nodaway County. It grew out of a town meeting in November of 2008, where a number of those present supported the idea of forming a local foundation which would seek to identify and fund community needs as well as provide leadership on critical issues. This idea has developed into an active, thriving organization. We hope you have noticed our presence by now. At this time we are moving to fulfill our longer term mission by increasing charitable giving and connecting donors to their favorite community needs.
GSNCCF serves as a vehicle for those individuals who want to “give back” to their community and put their money to work here at home. In addition, we seek funds from sources outside the community to help with local projects. Thus far, GSNCCF has supported local projects such as park renovation (Eagle Scout project), repair to the community Historical Society Depot Museum, fire hydrant flags (Eagle Scout project) for Barnard, and the SN Fitness Club (for 3rd - 6th grade students and community adults). We annually provide some minor financial support to various school activities such as Project Prom, Week of Diversity, SN class projects and the PTO Stampede. We have purchased needed supplies such as a movable softball fence and a popcorn machine to be shared by the school and Summer Ball Association. We have also donated to the school New Stage Curtains fund, and the Robotics Program.

(Dads of Great Students) - Engage men, inspire children, reduce bullying and enhance the educational environment at your school.
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) - is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security. Today, more than 2127 active programs in 40 states and New Zealand participate in the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program! If any adult, male figure would like to volunteer for the Watch D.O.G.S. program, please call the Elementary at 652-3718.
The goal of Project After Prom is to host an enjoyable alcohol and drug free event where the kids are our main focus. We want our them to have a positive remembrance of this event for the rest of their lives. We have many activities planned for a fun filled event. Each year support is given through the local community, Alumni, businesses,etc. to help make this night possible. Consists of any parent(s) that have students involved in sports, everyone is a member. There are no dues, everyone’s input is welcome and we meet on a monthly basis. We would like to encourage you to become actively involved and take part in helping support the athletes. Through the support that is received, we are able to help purchase various items for our athletic teams. If you have any questions you can reach Tabitha Holtman at 652-3727.
Heidi Klamm, South Nodaway’s Parent’s As Teacher’s Educator, provides monthly in-home visits, which include activities for both the parent and the child to participate in. These activities are both educational and explain which areas of development it focuses on. Developmental milestones, yearly screenings and monthly group meetings for children ages newborn through 5 years old are other services provided. The monthly meetings is a great service not only for the child, but also provides a network for the parents to get advice since there are many children within their child's age group in attendance.

PTO stands for Parents and Teacher Organization. Being a PTO member gives you an active voice in the education process. PTO enables you to communicate and participate in the development of the students. Your involvement shows our children how important they are to us and helps them to succeed. Great things come from our small community and each one of us can make a difference! If you can help on any of our upcoming projects please contact one of the PTO officers or come to a meeting.
What does PTO do??? We hold monthly meetings to discuss and plan various projects that will benefit the students and the staff of South Nodaway. Through these various projects we have been able to successfully raise funds that have allowed us to provide the following:
- Provide all basic school supplies for all the Elementary students.
- Pay for every High School student to take the ACT college entrance exam.
- Provide basic supplies for students at the High School.
- Provide a year’s quantity of Kleenex for the high school students.
- Provide each of the elementary students their own personal water bottle.
- Serve a meal for the Teachers during the Parent/Teacher conferences.
- Provide the High School students with a Christmas pizza celebration.
- Sponsored the elementary Reading Lock In.
- Supplied elementary families with brochures on parenting topics they requested.
- Supplied the Principals at both schools with funds that are available for special projects specific to their schools needs.
- Support the Parents as First Teacher program by funding material for Group activities
Annual Support to students: Basic School Supplies for ALL Elementary students, Elementary Reading Lock In; Elementary Science Night, PTO pays for every student to take ACT exam one time, $180.00 worth of Kleenex for High School students, Water Bottles for the Elementary Students to use during the day. Principle is given 1000.00 to spend on student activities. This has included field trips and Christmas Pizza Parties. Mr. Wray also has 200.00 in funds for student activities or materials. November 5, 2015 PTO Minutes
Meeting called to order at 6:35 by President Danyell Wiederholt with 3 members in attendance.
Treasurer’s report was given by Danyell. $6,414.61 is currently in the account.
Expenses for the longhorn stampede were reported to be $347.37.
Income for the stampede was reported at $1152.00.
Profit for longhorn stampede was reported at $804.63.
Teacher appreciation/parent teacher conferences were reported to be roughly $130.00.
Santa shop dates were changed due to concert. Santa shop will now be November 30th until December 4th. Setup for Santa shop will be November 29th at 2 pm. Anyone wanting to volunteer may contact Danyell Wiederholt.
Basketball tournament- Girls - February 20,2016 Boys - February 27,2016
We discussed medals for tournaments and starting to look at donations for gift cards.
Admission was deemed to be: adults -$3 students -$1 and 5 and under -free
Tournament will be bracket play and possibly be limited to 8 teams per weekend.
